About Plumbing Detectives

I’m Mike Reynolds, owner and licensed master plumber at Plumbing Detectives LLC — License CFC1434139. Before I ever worked on a house in Venice, I trained through Local 1 and spent years on large-scale infrastructure work in New York: storm drains on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, commercial remodels in the Empire State Building, tunnel work on the LIRR’s East Side Access into Grand Central. That’s a different scale than a residential leak, but the habit it built stayed with me — find out what’s actually happening before you touch anything.

That’s the whole philosophy behind this company. I diagnose before I quote: camera in the sewer line before a price on the repair, thermal imaging and acoustic tracing before a price on a slab leak, a real water test before I recommend a softener. I’d rather be accurate than impressive.

Method

How I Work

Listen first.

Every job starts with your description of the problem and the property’s history — what’s been done before, what’s changed recently, what you’ve noticed. That context shapes where I look.

Inspect thoroughly.

I use the actual equipment for the job, not guesswork: a Plumber’s Vision camera for sewer lines, a Mileseey TR20 thermal camera and Pulsar 2000 line tracer for slab leaks, a real water hardness test before any treatment recommendation.

Fix the root cause.

Once I know what’s actually wrong, I explain it in plain terms, give you a clear price before starting, and use quality materials — Type L copper, Uponor ProPEX, Rheem tanks upgraded with a Corro-Protec titanium anode rod as standard practice.

Confirm before I leave.

Every job gets pressure-tested or performance-checked before I call it done. If it’s not right, I don’t leave.

Why Call Me Back

Why Homeowners Call Me Back

  • Licensed and insured

License CFC1434139, covering both residential and commercial work.

  • Local to Venice and the surrounding markets

I know which neighborhoods still have polybutylene or cast iron, which ones are on well and septic, and what that means for the fix.

  • Clear pricing before I start

You’ll know the cost before I touch anything, and I don’t do surprise line items.

  • I clean up after myself

Respecting your property is part of the job, not an afterthought.

What Customers Say

Mike was thorough and kept working until he found the problem. He is very knowledgeable and gets the job done. Arrived when he said he was going to, did what he said he was going to do. I would recommend him.
Janet B.
Our water heater broke on NYE and the turnaround to replace it was less than 24 hrs. They exceeded our expectations and pricing was fair. I would highly recommend using this company for any plumbing issues.
Patti Mason
Came on a holiday to get our drain unclogged. Great customer service. Highly recommended and we will be using this company in the future for all our rental properties.

Michael of Plumbing Detectives installed a new tankless water heater for us. Did a great job and will certainly use this company in the future.
